Everything you need to know about our pool opening and closing services
In Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, we recommend opening your pool in late April to mid-May, once nighttime temperatures consistently stay above 50°F. Opening too early can lead to algae growth, while waiting too long means less swim time. We typically start scheduling openings in March.
Pool closing typically happens between mid-September and late October in the Midwest. The ideal time is when water temperatures drop below 65°F consistently. Closing too late risks freeze damage to your plumbing and equipment. We recommend booking your closing by early September.
A standard pool opening takes about 1–2 hours. This includes removing the cover, reconnecting equipment, filling the pool, balancing chemicals, and running the system. Pool closings typically take 1.5–2 hours, including draining lines, adding winterizing chemicals, and installing the cover.
Our pool opening prices start at $295 and pool closing starts at $285, depending on pool size. Use our scheduling tool above for instant pricing based on your specific pool. We offer competitive rates with no hidden fees — the price you see is the price you pay.
We serve homeowners across Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. Our main service areas include the Chicagoland suburbs, Northwest Indiana, and Southwest Michigan. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, give us a call at (815) 483-9713 and we'll let you know.
Our pool opening includes: removing and folding the winter cover, reinstalling ladders and accessories, reconnecting the pump, filter, and heater, filling the pool to proper level, adding startup chemicals, and testing the water. We leave your pool ready to swim within 24–48 hours.
